Legal
Please read these terms carefully before submitting a commission brief. By proceeding with a commission, you agree to the following terms.
Last updated: May 2026
All commissions are accepted at the sole discretion of The Commission House. Submitting a brief does not guarantee acceptance. You will receive a written confirmation before any work begins.
A commission is considered accepted only when both parties have agreed on subject, dimensions, medium, timeline, and pricing in writing, and the deposit has been received.
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the agreed commission price is required to secure your place in the queue and begin work. The remaining balance is due upon completion, before the finished piece is shipped or delivered.
Accepted payment methods will be confirmed at the time of commission. Prices are quoted in USD. Failure to pay the remaining balance within 14 days of completion notice may result in forfeiture of the work.
Progress photos will be shared at key stages of the work. You will have the opportunity to request minor adjustments during the process. Major changes to subject, composition, or size after work has begun may incur additional fees.
Once the final piece has been approved and delivered, no further revisions are accepted. It is your responsibility to review progress photos carefully and communicate any concerns promptly.
Cancellations made before work has begun will result in a full refund of the deposit. Cancellations made after work has begun are non-refundable. The deposit covers time, materials, and scheduling.
If The Commission House is unable to complete a commission due to unforeseen circumstances, a full refund of all payments received will be issued.
Finished works are shipped via insured carrier. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the client and will be quoted separately. The Commission House takes care in packaging all works; however, we are not liable for damage caused during transit once the piece has left the studio.
Local pickup or delivery may be available depending on location. Please inquire at the time of commission.
The Commission House retains full copyright of all original works, including commissioned pieces. Purchase of a commission grants you ownership of the physical artwork only.
The artist reserves the right to photograph and reproduce images of all completed works for portfolio, promotional, and exhibition purposes. If you require confidentiality, please notify us in writing before work begins — a confidentiality arrangement may be made at the artist's discretion.
You may not reproduce, print, or sell copies of the work without written permission from The Commission House.
Estimated timelines are provided in good faith and are not guaranteed. Completion times vary based on complexity, size, and current queue. You will be notified of any significant delays.
Rush commissions may be available for an additional fee, subject to current availability. Please inquire before submitting your brief.
In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to attempt resolution in good faith before pursuing any formal action. These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which The Commission House operates.
